Who We Are
The Harlem Comedy Festival was founded to support, showcase, and empower Black comedic artists. We believe that the lack of diversity in television and film is a result of not having a medium-tier comedy festival circuit dedicated to highlighting people of color. We strive to shine a light on the comedic talent that exists in our community that otherwise might go overlooked.
We are dedicated to connecting the historic location of Harlem, New York with contemporary Black voices in comedy. Harlem has been a Black entertainment, arts, and culture hub for over a century and for the last three years the Harlem Comedy Festival has been the first to include Black comedic arts in that cultural landscape.
What We Are
Each year The Harlem Comedy Festival brings a series of comedy events, including but not limited to: stand up showcases, long and short form improv, musical improv, sketch, panel discussions, curated movie series, and a stand up competition all over Harlem the last week of September.
